  • Costs now estimated at £56bn but expected to rise.
  • Huge damage to communities, ancient woodlands and to large tracts of middle England countryside.

  • Euston Station may not be able to handle all HS2 traffic and project may stop at Old Oak Common, currently a desolate maintenance yard in west London.
  • Instead of boosting the economy in northern England, HS2 may actually transfer more economic activity to London.
  • Reduced journey times from “high speed” will not bring economic benefit.
