Nicholas Ward Independent Candidate Against HS2
Standing in the Witney by-election on 20 October 2016.

Welcome to the website for my campaign as an Independent candidate in the Witney by-election on 20 October 2016.

I am standing on one single issue – I want to stop HS2, the Government’s plan to spend £56bn+ of taxpayers’ money on a new high speed rail line from London to Birmingham and then on to Manchester and Leeds.

I believe this High Speed 2 project is a huge mistake and want to try to stop it before it is too late.

Instead, I want the money to be spent on improvements to the existing rail infrastructure and on the NHS.

This website sets out my concerns about HS2 and the way it is being handled in Parliament.  It gives other information about my campaign and the challenges I face.  I should be very grateful if you would read it.

For most Witney voters, there is little to be gained from voting for one of the main parties in this by-election.  I hope to rekindle the spirit shown in the recent referendum and to provide an opportunity for Witney voters to send a strong signal to the established parties that they do not want their taxes spent on grandiose vanity projects and that there are better ways of spending such huge sums of their money.

Please vote for me on 20 October. As the ballot paper is in alphabetical order, my name will be at the bottom of the sheet.

With best wishes,

Nicholas Ward
